The malecon Canoa is a small peaceful fishing village located on the far north end of a beautiful 17km
beach that begins in San Vicente. At the very end of the beach are sheer cliffs with sea caves that are interesting
to explore. Canoa has become well known as a surfers hangout and popular place to paraglide and windsurf. Horses
are also available for rent and for tours around the area. You won't find a nicer more laid back place to rest
up and have some fun than here in Canoa. Prices are very inexpensive making it very popular with the budget traveler
and there are many excellent places to sleep, eat, and party too. For those of you not speaking much Spanish there is
a large expat community living here and they are always very happy to help in any way they can. There are also several
schools where you can perfect your Spanish. Looking south towards San Vicente During the week Canoa is pretty quiet which is a good time to rest up for the busy weekend. There are about
five times during the year when the beach can become quite crowded, but that is the exception. Most weekends there are
tents setup on one part of the beach that can be rented all day long to protect you from the tropical sun. The perfect
place to relax and enjoy a good book or just to watch the surfers doing their thing. Looking north towards the end of the beach
